The story 'A letter to God' is the story of belief and disbelief. The protagonist of the story is a son of the soil. He is a farmer. He loses all his crops in a huge hailstorm. But his belief in God remains intact. He seeks his help through a letter addressed to him. The postmaster, moved by Lencho's trust on God, manages some money and sends him. But Lencho does not get what he has expected. He feels he is cheated. He believes the post office has robbed him of his due. Lencho sends a second letter stating his complaint. This gesture of Lencho is a sign of his ingratitude. He trusts God but knows not there is God in man. This is the irony of life.
